Shock

(Source)
Casey Anthony was just acquitted of murder.  I am completely shocked.  I thought that it was a slam dunk case.  I guess justice will never be done for that little girl.  It's a sad day.

Bin Laden

By now, I'm sure that most of you have heard the news.  Osama Bin Laden has been killed.

While I am happy that a terrorist group has lost its leader, I am still somewhat saddened.  I know that Bin Laden was an absolutely terrible human being.  However, that does not make me want to rejoice in his death.  A celebration at the death of any human being makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm torn at this moment.  I am happy that Al Quaeda will be (hopefully) shut down by the loss of their leader (although I think it's probably just as likely that they will amp up their efforts).  I still cannot find it within myself to rejoice in the death of another human being.

Rebellion in the air!

Am I the only person excited about all of the rebellion in the air?  I love it.  This is a major turning point in world history!  And it's all so contagious.   Look at how quickly it's spreading in the Middle East:

Factbox: Protests in Middle East and North Africa

China has protests going on (even if they haven't been entirely successful so far).  The spirit of rebellion has even reached North Korea!  How exciting is that??

We've even got some protests going on here in the good ol' U.S. of A.

Whether you agree with it or not, isn't it refreshing to see people at least standing up for what they believe in?  I was getting tired of living in a nation filled with SHEEP just following along.  I am so excited to see people getting worked up and actually doing something.  I love it!  This is why we live in the U.S.A. people!  Stand up for what you believe in!

Why??

As I was driving to work this morning, I kept flipping through the radio stations.  All I kept hearing about was Lindsay Lohan's latest court appearance and Charlie Sheen's problems.  I really do want both of them to get the help they need, but really??  Aren't there about a billion other things going on in the world that are more important right now??

Just to name a few:

Budget Cuts (Nascar is important but affordable birth control is not)

Ahhhhh!  That's just the tip of the iceberg of some of the crazy stuff going on in the world right now.  So, why is Lindsay Lohan making headlines before this stuff???

Pistachios

Well, there is a pistachio scare in the news lately. I don't have to worry. I haven't eaten pistachios in more than a decade. I can't look at pistachios without being disgusted. And since I had to be disgusted today, so shall you. :)

When I was little, my parents would buy pistachios very often. It was a splurge that my parents insisted on. We didn't have a whole lot of money, so we didn't have cakes or cookies often, but every time we went grocery shopping, pistachios were bought. My parents love them. I don't think I loved them like my parents do, but I didn't think they were bad and I ate them once in a while right along with them.

Mostly, I just liked to suck the salt off the shells. I would pop one in my mouth and suck on it until the salt was gone and then I'd break open the shell and eat the nut. One one particular occasion, I sucked on the shell and popped it open as I normally did. There was a little bitty worm wriggling around in the center of the shell.

I was absolutely mortified. For those of you that don't know, the pistachios are already partially opened, so I was basically sucking on this worm. I thought I was going to vomit. I don't normally think of worms as horrifying or even that disgusting, but the fact that I wasn't expecting it and the fact that it was in my mouth really shook me.

I couldn't handle it. I haven't eaten a pistachio since then. In fact, every time I see a pistachio or someone mentions pistachios, another wave of nausea passes over me. That worm traumatized me. If it's been this long, I don't think I'll ever get over it. I will probably never have another pistachio in my life. I'm glad that I didn't love them before, or I might be disappointed.

Anyway, for the rest of you, check out this pistachio scare, and beware. Even if you don't get Salmonella, you might still get more than you bargained for.

News for Today

So, I was glancing at Google News this morning, and the first headline definitely caught my attention.

Is that not insane?? According to CNN, the pilot exited the plane and parachuted safely to the ground, but his plane hit a house and killed 3 people. There is also another child missing. They couldn't find her last night and they're still searching for her today. WTF, man. That is just crazy news to me. Apparently the plane was supposed to be landing on a marine base or something. This news kind of reminds me of Donnie Darko. I'm just waiting for the next headline to be about some crazy effing scary bunny terrorizing people. lol

Also in the news is this:

Deal to Rescue American Automakers Is Moving Ahead

I think it's bull crap. We're just rescuing everybody. Who needs to be be responsible anymore? Just do what you want and then when everything falls down around you for the bad decisions you made, the government will just bail you out. Where is the responsibility and accountability in that? If you're at risk of failing, you should fail or find a way to pull yourself up. It should not be the responsibility of the government or the American people to pull your ass out of the stupid mistakes that you made. It especially pisses me off with the automakers. What happened to supply and demand? Obviously we don't need the cars. Therefore, one of the giants should go under. Then the demand will go back up for the other suppliers. We shouldn't be saving companies that we don't need! If they don't want to go under, they should find another niche! It's ridiculous. If I own my own store and I'm in competition with other stores, when the going gets tough, one of us is probably going under. Whoever that may be, they'll need to find something else to provide to the public, or they'll just be gone. That's the way it should work. Grrr... Yeah, it might suck for the rest of us for a while, but we need to reset for all the stupidity that has taken place. Otherwise we'll never learn a lesson!
